The youngest casualty recorded by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in World War One, he was a cook on the fishing vessel “Vanguard” of Lowestoft when it was attacked by a U-boat on 24th October 1917.
He was 13 when he was killed and his body was not found.
His name is listed on the Merchant Navy War Memorial at Tower Hill in London.
